Insignificant indeed, unless or until the two men rise and point towards the painting and state, clearly and truly, that there lies our hope, our power, our truth to move forward. 'Not I, but the Christ in me.", shall be our motto for the future! The motto that our souls thirst for.
I am famous in my circle for saying “art will save the world.” This photo illustrates the power of spiritual art. Yet now I have slightly revised my phrase - art and CATs will save the world.
I researched Fabrizio Ruggeri, and found that he created the mosaic in the Baptistry in 1722, copied from the original painting by Carlo Matarra. Matarra's "The Baptism of Our Lord" was completed in the late 1600s, and hung in St. Peter's until it was moved to the Basilica of Saint Sabina in Rome, where it remains to this day. Matarra was active principallly in Rome where he was the leading painter in the second half of the 17th century. He did paintings for several popes.
Ruggeri's work in mosaic is faithful to the original painting, and is stunning.
Have you guys investigated multi-series The Chosen? What's your take? So much social media hubbub I finally watched Season One 8-episode released 2019 (Seven Seasons planned; season six in production). At the end, Season One explores John the "Baptizer" baptizing The Christ. The Chosen creators, of course, don't go into the incarnation of the Christ via Jesus of Nazareth (which would have been so much more interesting...)
From Writer/Director Dallas Jenkins (quote displayed on screen at various times): "The Chosen is based on the true stories of the gospels of Jesus Christ. Some locations and timelines have been combined or condensed. Backstories and some characters or dialogue have been added. However, all biblical and historical context and any artistic imagination are designed to support the truth and intention of the Scriptures. Viewers are encouraged to read the gospels. The original names, locations and phrases have been translated into English for anything spoken."

Let's hope & pray that God puts an end to all of this war.
